FREE YOUR LUNGS ON WORLD NO TOBACCO DAY!

May 31st, 2012 | Posted by Johnny Arts in Lifestyle | Uncategorized | Yipiii - (0 Comments)

World No Tobacco Day is an initiative started by the WHO (World Health Organization) in 1987, that encourages people worldwide not to use tobacco related products for 24 hours.

This year the WHO’s agenda is to Stop Tobacco Industry Interference, and will focus on the need to slow down the tobacco industry’s constant undermining of tobacco smoke. As we all know, tobacco smoking is an unfortunate epidemic that has cursed the world for centuries. It has been proven to be the cause of many serious (and often terminal) diseases and while before smoking you can easily live without tobacco, once you start it’s very hard to stop.

Stopping smoking is one of the hardest things to do, but it certainly will be the best thing you can do for your health, as after just days without smoking, you will start feeling, looking and smelling better! Technology has sure come a long way to help smokers quit, and from electronic cigarettes to nicotine patches you can get closer and closer to the real thing without hurting yourself.

Needless to say smoking is an expensive habit, whether you are a smoker or a former smoker, as patches, electronic cigarettes and how-to-quit kits certainly don’t come cheap, therefore head over to Yipiii and win your way to a healthier future with just £1!

If anything, put a flower in your ashtray, (the WNTD’s motto), it will surely look and smell better!

NEW LES MISERABLES TEASER TRAILER HITS THE WEB!

May 30th, 2012 | Posted by Ferdando Redondo in Uncategorized - (0 Comments)

Les Misérables, Victor Hugo’s epic nineteenth century novel, is not only a great yarn, but also one of the most successful musicals ever – it’s been running in London’s West End since 1985!

As with all massively successful books and musicals, it was inevitable, that Hollywood would come calling and bat its eyelash in the direction of Les Misérables, (for the 12th time!) which has now been whittled down into 1:38 minutes of a new teaser trailer to the sound of Anne Hathaway singing the classic ‘I Dreamed A Dream’ from the hit musical.

Yep that’s right, a new Les Miserables movie will soon be upon us, and yes, Anne Hathaway is in it, singing her cotton socks off. If Anne doesn’t tickle your fancy, don’t worry, the starry cast also included Sacha Baron Cohen, Hugh Jackman, Helena Bonham Carter and Russell Crowe.

For those of you who aren’t up to scratch on your French hit musicals, Les Miserables tells the story of a former prisoner seeking redemption, called Jean Valjean (Hugh Jackman). Valjean is pursued by evil Inspector Javert (Russell Crowe) and while on the run after serving nineteen years for stealing a loaf of bread. He meet meets Fantine’s (Hathaway’s character in the film) and his life transforms. It’s also a wider encompassing tale of social, political and romantic and pursuit and unrest in nineteenth century France. What more could you ask for?

The trailer truly is worth watching, epspecially just for the a listen of Anne Hathaway and her melodious vocals. The film is expected to hit cinemas on 14th December 2012, so there’s plenty of time for you to read the 1000 plus page novel!

Don’t forget you can win tickets to see Les Miserables in London’s West End as well as lots of other musical related prizes for just £1.

“LOVE” REIGNS SUPREME IN CANNES

May 28th, 2012 | Posted by Johnny Arts in Film & TV | Lifestyle | Yipiii - (0 Comments)

The world’s most glamorous and important film festival, Cannes, ended yesterday awarded its most prestiogious prize, the “Palme D’Or” to Michael Haneke’s film “L’amour” or “Love” for those of you less francophone!

In these last ten days, the famous “Croisette” in Cannes saw thousands of Stars and Starlettes parade on the red carpet towards the auditorium. Some were impeccably dressed, some must not have owned a mirror, while some others’ taste is open for debate!

But, back to what really mattered at Cannes, the films themselves. The Jury, let by Italian film-maker Nanni Moretti, prized the love story of two elderly citizens told in French by Michael Haneke this year’s “Palme D’Or”. Other prize winners were British director Ken Loach, with his “The Angel’s Share” won the jury prize, while Matteo Garrone (famous for his adaptation of shocking mafia tales in Gomorrah) won the Grand Prix with his film “Reality”.

The three films that were most anticipated: Wes Anderson’s “Moonrise Kingdom”, Sam Mendes’ “On The Road” and Sacha Baron-Cohen’s “The Dictator” may not have won prizes, but their stars certainly made the headlines thanks to their charisma, buffoonery and ultimately, talent. Bill Murray joked with the paparazzi, Kirsten Stewart enchanted the red carpet and Sacha Baron-Cohen blocked half of Cannes with a camel and then staged a (fake) murder!

All we have to say here at Yipiii is you’re all winners if you’re using winmarkets! Try the revolutionary concept on the following prizes and be a star!

Citizen Cannes: The Man Behind the Cannes Film Festival £19.96, max discount £1

IT’S CHIC TO BE GEEK: HAPPY GEEK PRIDE DAY!

May 25th, 2012 | Posted by Ferdando Redondo in Lifestyle | Yipiii - (0 Comments)

It was once said that geeks would inherit the Earth — and if you spend enough time in London’s hip bars, chic clubs and vintage boutiques, you’d think whoever prophesied eventual global dominance by the nerds of society was right – or a lucky guesser.

Perhaps the most famous geek of all - "McLovin" from the film Superbad. God bless him, his fake ID and his attempt to be 'cool'.

Thanks to affordable trendy-cum-nerdy looking clothing courtesy of Topman and the thick, black, oversized glasses every young hipster seems to be wearing (you could get them for free on the NHS in the 1970s you know). This proves that geek culture is everywhere, so much that they might as well be taking over the world, or its streets at least. Right about now, you’re probably wondering why we’re banging on about this,? Well; it’s to celebrate Geek Pride Day of course!

That’s right, May 25th is dedicated to those hard-core Star Wars fans who are usually single and never been on a date, still living at home with their mum whilst spending most Saturday nights alphabetising their vintage comic book collection before they hit the Dr. Who forums to discuss the potential dimensions of the TARDIS. It sure is a glamorous life.

You know geeks are planning global dominance when they appoint Megan Fox as their Queen. And then give her a Star Wars top to prove it.

But seriously, it seems that geek culture is in, and Geek Pride Day conveniently falls on May 25th so as to commemorate the release of the first ever Star Wars film and ‘Towel Day’ as celebrated by fans of the legendary Douglas Adams book ‘A Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy’.

So here’s to the geek – so uncool that they actually inspire those that are ‘cool’, so unfashionable that they inspired fashionsitas everywhere to take pity on them, adopt their style and turn it into the latest trend, so nerdy that even those £9.99 Casio watches every classroom geek wore in school go for three times as much today. It turns out geeks have inherited the Earth, very quietly at least.

Don’t forget to celebrate Geek Pride Day by checking all the great nerdy prizes over at Yipiii that can be won for just £1!

Star Wars Vintage Tiefighter: £24.99, max discount £1

Casio Casual Black Digital Watch: £20, max discount £1
